<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>This article provides an overview of studies related to the problem of moral hazards in markets for credence goods (medical services, car service and so on). Three different forms of moral hazard inherent in these markets are described: undertreatment, overtreatment and overcharging. Based on empirical studies, we analyze such determinants of moral hazards as level of information asymmetry, second-degree moral hazard, consumer socioeconomic status, competition level, social preferences, material and reputational incentives of expert. We also discuss the following ways to mitigate the moral hazard problem in markets for credence goods – separation of diagnostics and treatment, and internet rating platforms. The results of the study can find their practical application as teaching materials in the course «Institutional Economic Theory» for bachelor’s degree.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>доверительные блага</kwd><kwd>моральный риск</kwd><kwd>оппортунизм</kwd><kwd>асимметрия информации.</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>credence goods</kwd><kwd>moral hazard</kwd><kwd>opportunism</kwd><kwd>asymmetric information.</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Федеральный закон от 07.02.1992 № 2300–1–ФЗ (ред. от 08.08.2024) «О защите прав потребителей» // СПС КонсультантПлюс.</mixed-citation><mixed-citation xml:lang="en">Federal'nyy zakon ot 07.02.1992 No. 2300–1–FZ (red. ot 08.08.2024) «O zashchite prav potrebiteley».
